Today I was literally shocked by the news of a friend’s mother who passed away after years of fighting off cancer. He and I were classmates all through Standard 4 till 6 and we were schoolmates in high school. We did projects together for Living Skills and our group would occasionally drop by his house to finish off work. Recall of Ezrann, Mun?
I remember his mom well. She used to pick him up from school with a fluffy, white, Persian cat lying around in the backseat, sometimes even staring by the window. Whenever I saw the cat, I would scurry past by, afraid by the look of it and quickly head to my bus, always practically overflowing with other kids.
Her health deteriorated later in the years but she warded it off long and strongly enough until yesterday where she finally succumbed to the disease that took her life away. Innalillahi wainna ilaihi roji’un. From Him we come and to Him shall we return.
Sometimes, most of us– myself included, fail to remember that there will come a point in each and every one of our lives where we would sooner or later face the same consequence. One day, we could be jumping and squealing in glee while celebrating an occasion and another day, our life could just fall apart in a snap from the death of a loved one. We forget of the Big Man Upstairs who has His ways and means of things despite all we have planned. We could be lucky enough to choose our destination but The Big Man, He gets to decide our fate…
